Dave had taken a tour of Tuckerman Brewery (Conway NH), tried the 6288, and subsequently bought a case of it to share with the family. Because he took the tour, he had lots of interesting details about the beer. Fact #1: 6288 is the height of Mount Washington. Fact #2: The 6288 is brewed in limited batches because of how complex the brewing process is (it holds up their [small] production line while being brewed).
The beer is deep dark black. Smooth and thick. The primary flavor is coffee, with an accompaniment of vanilla. Dark roasted and full flavored. An absolutely wonderful stout all around. There were no differing opinions in the group. This beer is a must-try if you've never had the pleasure.
