My first impression of Great Divide - Hades - Belgian Style Ale is the aroma. As I poured the bottle, incredible amounts of banana came at me. Smelled just like a banana split (man...now I want a banana split!).
The color is very light and cloudy. Except for the cloudiness, it's so light you might confuse it for a less exotic beer *cough* Coors light *cough*. Rest assured that nothing else is similar to a CL...not dissing CL; I love the stuff.
This is the first beer I've had from the Great Divide Brewery. They are based out of Denver, Co. I quickly checked out their website, which is well designed. I also happen to follow them on twitter.
Back to the brew...
It's 7.3 ABV, but you can't tell. It's definitely full-flavored. I'm mostly getting a bready clove taste. Surprisingly, I'm not picking up much banana in the flavor, despite the crazy banana smell.
All around a good beer. Not particular unique, but good. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the Great Divide beers in my fridge!
