While I watch I'm having my first ever McNeill's Brewery beverage. McNeill's is a small brewery out of Brattleboro, Vermont. I picked up this 1pt 6oz bottle during my summertime trip to visit my family in Vermont.
The Ruby Ale is an opaque brownish red color. A nice head on the beer. Good lacing too. It weighs in at 5.7% ABV.
The aroma is of grapefruit. The beer is hoppy and grapefruity. Given the name, I'm incline to say that the flavor is reminiscent of ruby red grapefruit. In addition to the citrus, there is a good spice to the beer. I'm (pleasantly) surprised to find that there isn't a harsh bitter aftertaste. This is definitely due to the ample serving of malt that's also present.
I'm typically a fan of red ales, and likewise, I enjoy this beer. Not a huge fan of the aroma. Like the taste. Love the smooth mouthfeel.
